What happens now - EGM & next LAN 02/12/2008 |

Dear members, In response to the recent e-mail, from outgoing President Tom Hasler, the committee felt it necessary to keep you informed with the process that has now started to find a new President and assure you all that GameSoc will continue. None of the committee, whether they are remnants of last years or not, wished or wish Tom any ills, we are sorry for the situation he found himself in and hope that he knows that the committee were willing to to help, support and change - if they had been made aware of the situation. Though we disagree with many of Tom´s parting comments, we do not wish this transition to cause any more problems then it must, and wish Tom all the best in his studies. With Tom´s departure, the society shall now have to hold an Emergency General Meeting(EGM) to elect a new President to serve the remainder of Tom´s term. This meeting shall happen during the first LAN of semester 2, currently scheduled for 18th January. If you have any amendments to the constitution, these can also be raised during the meeting. If you do wish to stand for the position of President or are considering it, please get in touch with the society so we can provide you with more information on what the position involves and offer any help necessary to aid in your running. We would like to remind you all that the society has consoles at all of it it´s events, both a Wii and Xbox360, and at least 1 projector and screen. The consoles are always used with the current favourite games being rock band and super smash bro´s brawl. Feel free to bring your own too! people often do. The games played are also low spec, any OS, friendly, with all of the games played at the last lan being happily played by one member on a netbook - that´s not to say if you want to play a more demanding game like Dawn of War that noone will join in with you though! For those of you who are really more into the console side we have a joint event with AASOC next semester the weekend of the 15th of February which is ENTIRELY consoles! Bring any console you have or at least as many games and controlers as you can. The usual selection covers the alst 20 years from the SEGA Megadrive to the Wii so there is something for everyone. There will be projectors but the more TV´s the better too. Lastly don´t forget our last LAN of the year, this weekend on Sunday at 12-10pm in the Highland room, Pleasance. There will be consoles and a projector as usual but remember your laptop if you want in on the PC action, the more the merrier - a great way to take a break from exam stress! Thanks, The 2008-2009 GameSoc Committee Andrew Johnstone, Chris Thompson, Andy Diack, Sean Robertson & Kenny Benton

Welcome to the New Site26/03/2008 |
|
Why is there a new site? This has arose from a need to bring gamesoc.org up to date with the new committee's ideas; to replace the apparently copyright infringing old logo with a more lawyer friendly logo, as well as having a more aesthitically centred appearance. Technically the site is closer to the pre-forums incarnation, with the forums now a completely seperate entity to the main site. This does means the log ins, are different for this site and members shall receive their new passwords via e-mail shortly. If you have any comments or suggestions re:new site. e-mail me at Web@gamesoc.org
